The British Academy is now accepting applications for the Neil Ker Memorial Fund 2024-2025. The deadline for applications is 17:00 (GMT) on Wednesday 8 January 2025.
Aims
The object of this fund, established by the family and friends of Neil R Ker FBA, is to promote the study of Western medieval manuscripts, in particular those of British interest; enabling investigation of their production (including decoration), readership and use in particular.
Eligibility requirements
Applications are invited from early career and established scholars of any nationality, engaged on original research intended to produce monographs, editions or studies of documents, texts or illustrations, that include the analysis of the material features of original manuscripts.
Awards are offered to support aspects of research including travel and research assistance.Grants are not intended to support research visits to read manuscripts for their textual/historical or literary purposes or to fund attendance at conferences or seminars. Applicants should be of postdoctoral status or have comparable experience. Applications are not accepted from postgraduate students.
Value and duration
Awards are normally tenable for 12 months and do not exceed £2000.
Application process
Applications must be submitted online using the British Academy's Grant Management System (GMS), Flexi-Grant®. Applicants will need to register themselves in the system (if not already registered).
Deadline for submission of applications: Wednesday 8 January 2025, 17:00 (GMT)
Results expected: by 31 March 2025
Earliest start date for research: 1 April 2025
