As we continue to share insights from Black women scholars who are also ordained clergy, we think many of you will recognize this name. If you've read books such as What's Faith Got to Do with It? or Sexuality and the Black Church: a Womanist Perspective, you know the legendary scholar. But if you have not heard her preaching, then you've missed a significant portion of who she is and what she offers to the Christian Church today.
Here is a quote from Douglas:
“As you have heard me say from this pulpit before, but it bears repeating…no one, absolutely no one, is more or less worthy of a decent place to live, a secure job to work, enough food to eat, or the means to health and well-being…Because here is the thing – we are all lovingly created out of the dust of the earth as children of God.”
