Liberationist theologians are compelled to use their prophetic voices to speak truth to power. This speech is not "free" and comes at a price. Because African descended women are often less likely than other groups to achieve tenure due to the politial resistance to their work, many are compelled to be silent.
One of the primary reasons for tenure is to counteract that possibility. Tenured professors have the responsibility of speaking out against injustice because they are largely protected when they speak freely. Click here to continue reading.
