Strengthening Scholars, Building Bridges
Greetings from the Misogynoir to Mishpat (M2M) Research Network!
We are back from our hiatus and have hit the ground running! Among other things, we are filled with gratitude for the journey we’ve shared over the past four and a half years. Together, we’ve built a vibrant network of scholars, practitioners, and institutions united in the pursuit of justice, equity, and transformative scholarship.
So many of us individually stand in the gap between the Church and the Academy. As such, we are offering the Streams of Justice Bible Study intro to help generate conversations. You can learn more about this Bible Study here. The flash sale allows you and your family, churches, friends, to purchase this tool as a method to explore a faith seeking transformation. We also hope that, if you’ve enjoyed our content over the past four and a half years, you might consider this as a way to provide tangible support for this work.
As we look ahead to 2025, we are excited to announce new initiatives designed to amplify your work, address pressing challenges, and inspire action.
What’s Ahead in 2025?
Our focus for the coming year is rooted in equipping scholars and bridge-building institutions to thrive in changing times. Here’s a preview of what’s on the horizon:
Expanding Academic Opportunities
Proposal Writing Workshops: Craft compelling research and fellowship proposals.
Writing for Impact: From academic blogs to book chapters, enhance your voice and reach.
Conference Readiness: Learn to navigate and excel in academic forums.
Conducting Research: Practical guides for impactful scholarship.
We’re offering a combination of 1:1 coaching and group coaching, interactive community to nourish you, study materials, and PDFs from our Vault. We’re also thrilled to share that a new academic journal opportunity provided by the Black Women and Religious Cultures journal. Click here to read the announcement. The deadline is February 15th – so you have two weeks to get in your abstract! We have the “dream team” of editors, Drs. CL Nash, Geeta Patel and Carol Marie Webster. The writers have said they find these editors to be nurturing, encouraging and providing feedback to make their work better!
As more opportunities are finalized, we will share them here first. Contributors will explore themes that illuminate overlooked contributions of Black women in religion and justice. Please share this with everyone within your networks!
A Call to Action: Invest in Your Future
The evolving political landscape presents both challenges and opportunities for scholars. With “Project 2025” signaling shifts in U.S. policies, it’s more important than ever to anchor our scholarship in justice and equity.
M2M is here to help you build resilience:
Personalized Support: We’ll walk with you through the steps to secure fellowships, publish impactful work, and navigate your academic journey with confidence.
Community Accountability: Join our pilot Sistah Scholars Program, where you’ll find mentorship, writing templates, and resources tailored to your success.
The pilot program begins February 12, 2025, with 20 exclusive seats available. Open enrollment for the broader Sistah Scholars community starts April 15, 2025.
Empowering Bridge Builders
Institutions such as seminaries, churches, and research institutes face unprecedented challenges. We aim to help them adapt by creating space for collaborative solutions. Together, we’ll develop pathways for sustainability while amplifying the strengths of the communities they serve.
Celebrating Black Women’s Leadership
As one of the two fastest-growing demographics in global Christianity, Black women are leading transformative change. In 2025, M2M will highlight their contributions while equipping them with tools to grow as scholars, advocates, and “womanist-preneurs” driving social impact.
Strengthening Voices, Securing Futures
Our commitment to independent scholars extends to helping you secure your financial future. We’re developing resources to help you:
Build your academic platform.
Engage audiences through modern media.
Transform expertise into tangible opportunities.
Stay Connected
Our website will remain the hub for curated opportunities, including:
Paid positions (lecturer, researcher, fellowships).
Grants and conference opportunities.
Resources to support your academic and vocational journey.
On Substack, we’ll delve deeper into social justice issues, exploring how race, gender, and class intersect with religious scholarship. Expect bold conversations about how religion is wielded as a political weapon—and how we can challenge this narrative.
Together, Into the Future
As we embark on this new chapter, we invite you to take the next step with us. M2M is growing, and with your support, we’ll continue to uplift independent scholars, amplify underrepresented voices, and build bridges between communities.
Thank you for your dedication and vision. Here’s to a transformative 2025!
In solidarity,
Dr. Nash
