Black Women, Religions, and Political Truths
Acknowledging the deep entanglements of Black politics and religious traditions with global capitalism, Black Women and Religious Cultures invites submissions for a special issue titled "Black Women, Religion, and Political Truths: Intersections Across Borders." This issue seeks to amplify critical conversations on national and transnational politics, exploring themes such as political betrayal, prison and police abolition, alliances with adversaries, the evolving landscape of electoral politics, activism and social transformation, Black women’s political leadership, and the ongoing struggles against systemic violence, including genocide.
Black women have consistently been vanguards of political and religious movements, shaping narratives of power, liberation, and justice across the world. This special issue seeks to illuminate the profound intersections of Black women’s lived experiences, spiritual traditions, and political engagements. We invite scholarly contributions that delve into these intricate relationships, offering fresh insights into how Black women’s actions and beliefs transcend borders, challenge injustices, and reimagine pathways to collective freedom.
