Riots Do Not Develop Out of Thin Air
This quote, "Riots do not develop out of thin air," is from Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. His words challenge people who see riots but are blind to the inhumanity which serves as the kindling that sparked the riots. Is it just to demonstrate outrage at the loss of property but to provide an apathetic response to the loss of life?
King challenges this in the video today. As Theologians, Biblical scholars, Ethicists, and other religious scholars, our work must be rooted in justice. As religious leaders including preachers, pastors, deacons, administrators - our work must be rooted in justice making.
