Maya Angelou was a renown performer, educator, author and civil rights activist. She penned several books including: I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, And Still I Rise, and All God's Children Need Traveling Shoes. Angelou also recited one of her poems at the inauguration of President Bill Clinton. Her words which affirmed the strength and dignity of Black women has long been an inspiration for womanist scholars of theology and ethics.
