It's sad to read this. I'm glad he finally got Justice and the recognition he deseves but it's also sad to know that it still goes on and not just in the US!
Indeed! It's like Dr. King said, "The arc of the moral universe is long but it bends toward justice." The recognition was symbolic but borders on performative. He lost the opportunity to work on the level he desired, to earn the money he deserved and to have the security he worked for! In addition, the wider academic community lost access to his knowledge!
